Our portfolio: EduTeca Digital Textbook

overview

We decided to answer the call of the Romanian Minister of Education, Remus Pricopie, and get involved in this educational project that is so important for the future of Romania.

Now, in 2014, our EduTeca brand expands to school level.

Our digital textbook for the 2nd grade called “Communication in the Romanian Language” is now ready and can be tested here: manuale.eduteca.ro

Around 1 million smartphones and 600,000 tablets are purchased in Romania every year. Given this fact, talking about the benefits that educational software could bring in the teaching and learning processes is not enough, as instead we should take action.

Our Experience
Two years ago, the first digital textbooks were being launched in the United States. Ascendia brought its contribution, too. On that occasion, our company launched the first Romanian digital textbook (iBook Textbook) and the seventh one in the entire world on Apple’s iTunes platform. With 25,000 people already using our solution, we are proud that our name is mentioned among giant companies, such as McGraw-Hill, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Pearson Education. Each of them had already published two digital textbooks before we did.
Three years ago, through the educational brand EduTeca, our company started producing and marketing e-learning products for children aged three to seven.
This year (2014), we decided to expand our offer to the next age segment (seven to eleven year-old children) and to bring our own vision on what a digital textbook should be to the market. The chapter released today is a demo of our concept.

Access
By using cutting edge technology, our EduTeca digital textbooks can be accessed from any device, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, PC, Mac, or a Smart TV, regardless of the operating system it is equipped with, be it Windows, Linux, Mac OS, iOS, or Android.
The textbooks combine a multitude of educational resources – text, pictures, audio and video clips, as well as interactive elements – and offer children a much improved version of traditional printed textbooks. The learning experience is decidedly more effective.
A major novelty is the presence of an e-learning avatar, a virtual tutor. The avatar accompanies the child, guides him, gives feedback and directs him to the next adventures. Every text is preceded by a brief animated sequence that arouses the curiosity of children. The clip is followed by exercises for acquiring knowledge related to text – structure identification, new words or phrases, plot, moral, summary, and more.
The child is naturally drawn to interactive learning games that are full of color and sound. Intense interactivity and the learning objectives’ transformation into games stimulates the memorization process and the understanding of abstract concepts.
